Gear Rules (Canon Lock)

Mina and Kai use science-based tools co-built with ARC-7. Their tools are strong but have clear limits.

Core Principle

All gear is co-built — ARC-7's alien precision combined with human instinct. No character receives magic equipment. They build it together.

Mina — Fireflies System

What it is: A three-component personal tech system: bracelet (control hub), sensor array (autonomous scanning drones), and AR glass (single-eye augmented reality display). The "Fireflies" are the sensor drones — small autonomous units that glow like points of light in the forest. The name is Mina's.

Components

Bracelet + Finger Rig — sleek bracelet that looks like jewelry, not tech. 5 thin wires run from the bracelet to finger sensors on each fingertip — the wires look like thin jewelry chain material, elegant and delicate. Hand gestures and finger movements control the swarm. Mina conducts the Fireflies like a conductor. The bracelet is the power source with haptic feedback for threat proximity. Sensor Array — small drones that deploy in perimeter patterns. Scan for Ink signatures, energy anomalies, movement. AR Glass — single-eye lens. Overlays threat data onto Mina's vision. Shows what normal eyes cannot see.

Allowed Actions

CommandEffect
SCANMap area, mark threats, track movement in real-time
LIGHTShow paths, highlight exits, guide people
SHIELDDrone bubble around a person (temporary)
SPARKElectric burst to stun or push back briefly
Cooldown rule: After SHIELD or SPARK, Fireflies must regroup. They weaken and their glow fades. Detection limit: Fireflies cannot detect dormant/hibernating Ink. This blind spot is permanent — better tools, same gap. Battery limit: Sensor drones have limited battery. Recharge near Spark Dust sources. Range limit: Effective within and around ZaroLand. Signal weakens at distance.

Kai — MagDust Glove

What it is: A big, thick, heavy glove on Kai's dominant hand. Bulky by necessity — it houses the electromagnetic pulse generator that controls MagDust. Reinforced wrist cuff holds the power unit. Faint teal circuitry lines glow when active. Co-built with ARC-7.

It looks like a tool, not jewelry. The contrast with Mina's elegant bracelet is deliberate.

How it works: Kai gestures and MagDust in the environment responds — forming structures he envisions. Shape rule: Kai makes BIG shapes only — WALL, SHIELD PLATE, STAIRS, CEILING COVER, BRACE, PILLAR, PIPE/CONDUIT. No tiny hand shapes. No micro precision. Pulse Zone Limit: MagDust works only inside Kai's range — same room / same scene. If Kai moves too far, the dust drops. Supply limit: Requires MagDust in the environment. ZaroLand has plenty. Elsewhere, supply is limited. Focus limit: Must maintain concentration. Distraction = collapse. Heat limit: Glove can overheat with sustained heavy use.

Signature Move: IRON BALL

Kai compresses MagDust into one heavy ball. One heavy smash or breach. Then recharge 30-60 seconds.

Special Capability: PIPE

Kai can forge a magnetic conduit that focuses and directs energy — like a barrel for the Verdant Seal beam. This allows the team to concentrate power for penetrating armored targets.

The MemeWars Arena

ARC-7 creates a simulation arena for combat training. His version is clinical — teal wireframe, pure utility.

Kai and Mina transform it with color, music, obstacles, and scoring. This becomes the MemeWars arena — where the team trains and improves together.

How Gear Works Together

The gear is designed so the team is stronger combined:

  • Mina scans → finds threats, calls positions
  • Kai builds → shapes barriers or conduits on her call
  • Zaro powers → provides energy
  • ARC-7 contains → holds the line

When all four work together, they can amplify the Verdant Seal into a focused beam that breaks through defenses none could penetrate alone.
